About Me

Hi I’m Abbey!

I’m a creative mom whose brain is always looking for ways to get me making stuff!

So I’m trying my hand at sewing, crochet, crafts, and cooking. All the hobbies that I loved as a child and have learnt to value as skills now. The crochet and crafts I have always has a knack for, while the sewing and the cooking have become necessities – sewing because my particular body type (read: curvy) is hard to shop for and cooking because we have tons of allergies in my family (read: can’t eat a lot of things without feeling like total crap).

And sadly, living in Barbados doesn’t help with those two particular issues as both specialty clothing and food have to obviously be imported and therefore are really expensive.

So it is definitely worth my while to improve upon the talents that the good Lord blessed me with.

The internet became my friend over the years in my quest to find clothes that would fit well and foods and recipes that wouldn’t make me sick. Then after all the help I got from the awesome bloggers that I found, combined with a growing Pinterest obsession and starting a ladies’ tailoring class at Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic, I decided to start this site!

Here’s hoping that I can pay it forward and help you too!

Thanks for reading!

P.S. I’m sure you will notice that I like love purple. No. Seriously. I. LOVE. PURPLE. There will be A LOT of purple on this blog. Be advised.

P. S. S. Please also forgive me should Bajanisms (read: Barbadian slang and colloquialisms) appear that you may not understand. Sometimes the passion for art is so great that proper standard English ends up in the eddoes…. see? it has started already…

  1. Hello Abbey, nice blog…wish I could be so creative with my hands.

I couldn’t help noticing your natural hair though. I’m from Trinidad and saw this blog while surfing the net. I have a natural hair online project I’m embarking on and would love to chat with you about being featured in it when it is launched. Take care.

    Sincerely,

    Charmaine.
