Okay, first I must apologize for the lack of posts last week, but I clearly didn’t understand how to schedule posts to publish on a specific date… I’m so embarrassed… Please forgive me… So let’s just forget that I didn’t post last week ok? Great!
Now, I don’t know about you, but I looooooooooooooooooooove to see BurdaStyle news in my inbox. There’s always something totally awesome to look at and get inspired by! Like these eleven new patterns classified as “Nice and Bright”:
I’m not a fan of all of them. I mean, seriously, some of these styles are clearly not for everyone. But… You see that red dress?!?!?! I am in love with the details of the Long Sleeve Seamed Dress (Pattern 08/2012 #121). From the tucks at the neck and the centre seams to the waist darts and the raglan sleeve style, I just think it is awesome!! I have some red mechanical stretch stashed away that would be perfect! Sadly, of course, BurdaStyle doesn’t have any curvy woman sizes yet, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed to see a Plus version for this dress soon. And there’s also a short sleeve version too!
I’m finding that peplum tops look really nice in yellow and Burda’s model for its Peplum Top (Pattern 08/2012 #113) is no disappointment in this regard! Then to pair it with a pencil skirt? This outfit is GORGEOUS! Since bright was the theme for this week’s pattern release, I would have loved to see some pink or navy accents for the model, but I guess the nude pumps and brown belt allow for the yellow to be more dominant. With a minor alteration to the length at the back of the peplum, lowering the neckline, and a full bust adjustment, this whole outfit is a definite TO DO List item!
I’m a bit undecided on the next outfit. At first glance, I was like, ooohhh this jacket is interesting, then after some more staring I was like, but this aint for no woman with curves tho! No, seriously, I really can’t see a woman with anything more than a B cup being able to carry off this jacket well. The Creased Trousers (Pattern 08/2012 #129), however, I was sold on them at first sight! Who doesn’t look good in a nice fitting pants with a center pintuck down the front and back?!?!?!? Beautiful. Must add this pants to the TO DO list as well.
I’m curious though, about a couple of things. Why no orange inspiration? I’m sure the Seamed Dress would look as equally impressive in orange. Why repeat the red? And why, if we are showcasing a bright colour collection, do you have that pale blue dress at the end? Maybe in orange or even purple (duhhh for me, right?), I may have actually swooned a little, instead of scrolling straight pass that one. I can’t be the only person thinking this, dear Burda editors. #imjustsaying
You may be wondering why I’m drooling over Burda every week, but I’m trying to get ideas for an upcoming personal sewing project and it’s great that you can always count on BurdaStyle to help you get your creative juices flowing.
Anyways, on to the next task at hand. Since Tropical Storm Ernesto is no longer an issue, I’m off to plan my Crop Over weekend outfits now!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
